TAP
In tap dance, performers wear shoes equipped with metal plates that create unique and exciting rhythms. As the dancer moves, the plates tap across the floor, creating opportunities for thrilling beats and rhythmic awe. Dancers in tap classes learn how to use their entire body to control the sounds coming from their feet. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.This dance genre focuses on rhythm creation, coordination, and originality. Students in Tap class will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap.
Tap I
ages 5 – 8, 45 minutes longThese classes teach rhythm, coordination, basic tap terminology, technique and choreography.
Tap II
ages 9-12, 60 minutes long.This class teaches intermediate level rhythm, coordination, tap technique, terminology, and choreography.
Tap III
ages 13 and up, 60 minutes long.This technique class will focus on faster and more intricate footwork. The dancer at this level will develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute to complex rhythmic combinations. Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations.
